Before we were in temper
Hot blood flows
The measurement of panic is regulated
Some cannot return
Soft were the cushions
Wild hearts
Nothing passes without someone knowing
Young bucks with their life ahead
The cities wait for the games
Chase the fish eels over the sluice gate
Here the stories
Many are the memorials to the lost
Perhaps that’s what comes next
Idealism isn’t easy
We once were monsters
And will one day be again
I heard told of treasures
In the deep
That one day
Two youngsters
Brave and foolish
Went out when the sun was shining
At the bending of the river
And so they missed the signs
In the meteoric sky
That something was happening overhead
The birds fell silent
And the sky went dark
And in the water
They fought for their life
Then caught in a tidal pool
One of the boys lifted up
And was no longer drowning
He called for his friend
And pulled him up
And together
They rode the whirlpool
Until they could see straight through the waters
The dark green mildew had washed away
The water was cleansed
At the bottom of the pool
They saw the glint of gold
And knew the treasure
And went for it
Down they went against the tide
One at a time
Then back up into
The safety of the tidal stream
One last go and one went deeper still
Grabbed onto the treasure
He looked into the eyes of the Golden Sow
And felt triumph
As he swam up
The water shifted
The tide swept away
And he would have been lost
But his friend returned
And took the other boys hands
the Golden Sow
Drifted to the bottom
Of the stream
To become nothing more
Than another chapter amongst the legends
