Signs of dereliction along the shining boulevards Love a bad reaction to your sexual alternation Saturday afternoon tattoos regretted on a Monday Wish you’d never got a taste for pain relieving medication Sun kissed summers under wet bulb temperatures Knowledge is no foretaste for all the wrong decisions made Never underestimate the death wish of dictators How many more must die before they are decapitated? Signs of dereliction along the shining boulevards Signs of dereliction along the shining boulevards Signs of dereliction along the shining boulevards How will all this violence affect today’s children? How will you explain away the mental health of millions? How will you just justify the closing of your borders When will you teach your sons to respect a woman’s agency? How will all this violence affect today’s children? How will all this violence affect today’s children? Culture wars encapsulated in 24-hour news re-cycle Evictions are at record levels during the coronation The kings of commerce counting out all their knock-off merchandise A hundred social media ads targeting your loneliness. Oxycontin widowers signing up to dating sites Toxic social influencers targeting the demographic Skyward rise the high rises in the city of the last resort Signs of dereliction along the shining boulevards Signs of dereliction along the shining boulevards

Two steps forward two steps back These are the things I do behind your back Two steps forward two steps back These are the things I do behind your back How I lived through the night of hail On the track of the Holy Grail How I lived through the night of glass Waiting for the storm to pass Two steps forward two steps back These are the things I do behind your back Two steps forward two steps back These are the things I do behind your back I can take the ghosts for a walk I can talk back when I know their talk I can dance with the ghosts tonight I can throw them around and hold them tight I can hear the breathing of the living God I can see the living when the living’s gone I can hear the breathing of the living God I can see the living when the living’s gone I can hear the breathing of the living God I can see the living when the living’s gone I can hear the breathing of the living God I can see the living when the living’s gone Never heard the sound of the living breath Yet I could hear the sighs beyond your death I can hear the beat of a stillborn heart I can hear the flight of a poison dart I can hear the cries of the trees in the wood I can hear the screams of the primal mud Never get to heaven on a stormy night Wait for the rain to damp your flight I can hear the breathing of the living God I can see the living when the living’s gone I can hear the breathing of the living God I can see the living when the living’s gone I can hear the breathing of the living God I can see the living when the living’s gone I can hear the breathing of the living God I can see the living when the living’s gone

We met on the empty beach when it was cold and early I knew that everything would change when the nights got long You were the girl with the sandcastle hair – Soft between my hands before the waves came along Why are you for looking to the ocean to cover you Have you forgot about the seaweed and the shells we gathered Why were you were always longing for a donkey ride… I told you there was nothing to see beyond the dunes Lollipops and candy floss, penny falls, and Punch and Judy The bright lights of the pier reflected in your ocean eyes Carny boys would tell you, you were beautiful You were the girl with the sandcastle hair

Love is always tempting me with something of a paradox When it came to truth it seemed, there really was not a lot I saw you across the room Yet you left too soon I saw you in my dreams And you know what means You were always waiting for me at the entry point of love I said I’ve waited far too long, you said its not enough I saw you at the station Just getting on the train I’d left I wanted to go back to you But by that time the train had left It’s not enough I can’t go on We’ve learnt so much And are always wrong You were always waiting for me at the entry point of love I said I’ve waited far too long, you said its not enough I saw you in the rain And let you share my umbrella I walked you to your door And I’d be there in any weather. You were always waiting for me at the entry point of love I said I’ve waited far too long, you said its not enough I’ve waited long enough I’ve waited long enough

Heavy Thing 03:14
It was a heavy thing You made me lift I knew to you it was everything It was a gift It was heavy thing You made me lift I knew to you it was everything It was your gift Before I knew it I was broken Before I did it I should have spoken It was a heavy thing Until you showed me how I would do everything To be with you now It was a heavy thing Until you showed me how I would do everything To be with you now Before I would have never been believed Before I would have want to be relieved It was a heavy thing I didn’t believe I could You held me then you moved away And now I understood It was a heavy thing I didn’t believe I could You held me then you moved away And now I understood It was a heavy thing It was a heavy thing

Marvellous 02:56
Would it be so hard to change the world If we never left our home? Would it be so hard to fall in love If we weren’t good at being alone. What if our choices were limited What if the time we have is short – What if saw your future on a map Would you change the way you thought – I was an optimist in everything I was a pugilist in the ring I was a terrorist with all my rage I was a dramatist on the stage Go down to the place you are happiest being See all the tings you are happiest seeing Marvellous Marvellous Isn’t life Marvellous? Marvellous Marvellous Isn’t life Marvellous?

Easy Life 04:24
What you want to say to me now What do you want now I’ve come round - well we could do anything else it seems a shame now I’m about Where do you want to go - if you’re bored we could go out. What’s the place you’re always dreamt – close your eyes and count to ten - I was lying when I said it was easy when I said it was easy I was trying it was never gonna be easy it was never gonna be easy What do you want to do with me now? What do you want to talk to me about? Where do you think the whole things leading? What do you think you are needing? Its easy I know its never that easy I know its never that easy Its easy I know its never that easy I know its never that easy An easy life An easy life If I told you that what I thought the first time I saw you Would you have ever spoken to me again? How could I pretend that you weren’t special to me Surely the whole world you could tell? There was never anyone else. Easy An Easy Life never gonna be easy never gonna be easy Easy An Easy Life never gonna be easy never gonna be easy

about

The Bonbon Experiment - the (almost) self-titled 43rd album from Bonbon Experiment has been over a year in the making, from extended recording sessions that boiled down to these 12 tracks that are musically and stylistically varied, taking in a new drum machine and Midi for the first time, alongside the usual array of synths, electronics and acoustic instruments.. The pop smarts of "Marvellous" and "Heavy Thing" are alongside the motorik electronica "Metrolink" and the industrial "Terminal Point", whilst the opener is a powerful state-of-the-nation song.
